Peter's musical career began at an early age, when like many other youngsters he was subjected to compulsory piano lessons but unfortunately that well known adage of "you can lead a horse to water" etc. applied and at the earliest opportunity he escaped from piano lessons and started playing the cornet. Peter's early association with the cornet lasted approximately two years before he again transferred instruments, this time onto the piano accordion, an instrument which held his interest for a much longer period.
Following an apprenticeship in the printing industry, Peter joined the Metropolitan Police Force where his career and love of sport took priority over his musical interests. Peter states that during his police service he represented the Metropolitan Police at various sporting events but considers his two major achievements to be representing his country at athletics and qualifying as a member of the Centurions Walking Club. (The qualification for membership for this club is to walk 100 miles within twenty four hours).
Following retirement Peter rediscovered his interest in the cornet, particularly as he now has more time to devote to his musical studies and is very pleased to have found Cantium Brass. He states that being a member of an excellent band like Cantium Brass has given him the interest and motivation needed to improve his musicianship. Peter's other musical interest, as previously stated is the accordion, although he has now transferred from the piano accordion onto the chromatic free bass button accordion and is currently studying for his Trinity Guildhall grade seven examination.
